A portion of Provincial Road 305 east of Ste. Agathe will be closed to traffic during the day Thursday.

Larry Halayko is Executive Director of Construction and Maintenance with Manitoba Infrastructure. He explains CP Rail has scheduled to do repairs at the rail crossing just west of Highway 59. As a result, the crossing will be closed from 5:30 am to 5 pm.

Halayko says they will be redoing some of the work on the rail bed itself. Crews will readjust the tracks and then patch the road there, providing a smoother ride across the tracks.

According to Halayko, there was a break in the rail earlier this spring. The rail line went in there and completed an urgent repair. However, due to frost in the ground, it was only a temporary fix. Halayko says they knew all along that a permanent repair would happen at a later date. That work will now happen Thursday.

PR 305 will be closed in that vicinity, with detours directing traffic down PR 200 and PR 311.
