A false fire alarm at the Blumenort School was a little bit more complicated today due to the cold weather.

Steinbach Fire Chief Kel Toews says upon arrival they were made aware that it was a student that had activated the alarm so it was then simply reset.

Meanwhile, Fire Captain Jordan Loewen notes although it was cold, the students were evacuated.

"The students were evacuated, when they discovered it was basically a false alarm because of the contact with the detector, they moved the students into the gymnasium. They were all inside by the time we got here."

Toews adds students were only outside for a brief amount of time and says once staff discovered there was no danger, everyone was moved into the gymnasium.
