The Marchand Community Club plans on installing some new playground equipment to cater to their growing population of young families.

“Knowing that this play-structure is going in is great for the community,” comments La Broquerie Councillor Paul Gauthier, who covers the Marchand area. “There are a lot of children and young families there so it will be very well used. It’ll be one big facility for all of the children in Marchand.”

Gauthier says Council granted the Marchand Community Club $10,000 for their playground project back in 2017. He explains that they are only moving forward now because the community club just recently finalized their plans.

“We were just waiting for them to come back with an estimate and what equipment they were going to purchase.”

Now that the community club has decided what they want, the project is valued at roughly $11,400. Though council is covering the vast majority of this, Marchand will pay for the remainder out of their annual allowance from the municipality.

According to Gauthier, the playground purchases will include various items such as a teeter-totter, two spring riders, a tether-ball poll, and a new bench. This new equipment will be added to the existing park playground near the baseball diamonds in Marchand.
