Five communities in the RM of Hanover now have electronic billboards that will advertise community events.

Lisa Baldwin, Manager of Recreation and Community Services says signs are now functional in Kleefeld, Grunthal, New Bothwell and Blumenort. The community of Mitchell has a sign in place, but it is not yet up and running.

"We've had a little bit more challenges with that one, it needs its own hydro line," says Baldwin. "Maybe in the next month or so we should be able to get that one up."

According to Baldwin, the signs are designed to provide information to the general public. She says it could be festivals, community events or even emergencies. The signs will not be used for advertisements.

Baldwin says anyone with a message they would like posted, should contact the RM office. She's asking for the information at least one week before the time of posting. The billboards are managed from her office and Baldwin says the information goes up nearly instantaneously.

"I've got a lot of feedback," says Baldwin. "People are excited that they can get their information out there about their events."

Baldwin says after everything is said and done, the entire cost of this project could reach nearly $250,000.
