A two-vehicle collision momentarily slowed traffic heading east on highway 52 past Mitchell at around 7:30 this morning.

Constable Ken Friesen from the Steinbach RCMP was at the scene. He describes the situation: “The lead vehicle pulled onto the highway and was unable to see when the sun hit his windshield, so he slowed right down. The approaching vehicle also admitted to limited visibility and collided with the lead vehicle.”

The resulting rear end gave both motorists involved minor injuries, with one taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons. RCMP found both drivers to be partly at fault, but no charges have yet been laid.

With increasing condensation as seasons begin to change, Friesen says that these kinds of accidents are common. “If you can’t see don’t drive,” stresses Friesen, “ensure you have good visibility prior to going out with your vehicle, it’s common sense.”
