The reeve of La Broquerie says it's not necessary for Canada Post to open a postal banking building in the village.

A letter was received by council from the Canadian Postmasters and Assistants Association stating 48% of communities do not have a financial institution and found 39% of Canadian businesses and 38% of residents would use a postal bank.

Lewis Weiss says there was such a service in the 1960's which was closed and, having the Caisse as their community financial institution, doesn't see the need for such a service as a postal bank again.

"I don't really see the need in a world where we're switching to direct deposit and everything is going somewhat cashless."

Council decided to not pursue the offer of re-opening a postal banking service in the municipality.
