A meteorologist with Environment Canada says the arctic ridge we've been experiencing will be letting up in the next couple of days, but we shouldn't get excited just yet.

Weather station at the Tourond Creek Discovery CentreAmanda Prysizney says a warmer front from the west is expected to arrive in southeastern Manitoba on Wednesday and bring temperatures as high as zero. She adds with those warmer temperatures there will also be a pretty high wind value with gusts ranging from 40 to 60 kilometres per hour.

"Then Wednesday evening and overnight another cold front will be sweeping down from the north bringing us back down to those more seasonable and even below seasonable temperatures."

Prysizney says if the warmer temperatures bring precipitation, then drivers may require caution when the temperatures dip back down into the minus double digits. She adds this is winter and these variabilities in the prairie's weather are not completely uncommon.
