There has been some excavation work at the Steinbach Fly-In Golf Course this fall in the area behind the sixth tee box and seventh green, which is just behind homes along Granite Park Boulevard. Head Professional Brian Guenther explains what they are doing.

"We've partnered up with the neighbours on the golf course and done a nice drainage/beautification project involving the seventh green and the sixth tee box. It's going to really enhance that part. We struggle with drainage in the back corner there and the pond has been expanded to accept more water. We have also put a static level on the north side so that the water can drain all the way down to the creek."

Guenther says the pond next to the seventh green will now wrap around the back of the green and will also come out a little more in front of it. Guenther adds they won't be able to complete the project this fall.

"With the early winter here, probably not, but the main work will be done. All that will have to happen in springtime will be the topsoil and the seeded areas and some sodding in front of (the seventh green). The hole itself will not be out of play (next spring) that's for sure, the hole will be ready to go in spring."
