Provencher Conservative MP Ted Falk says the Liberal government will have to be careful to make wise decisions in response to the actions of new U.S. President Donald Trump. Falk says Trump is moving quickly to carry out election promises and Canada will have to take great care in how it reacts because there is so much at stake.

Provencehr MP Ted Falk"We're concerned about some of the decisions that are being made south of the border, that they don't negatively impact Canada. We're very concerned how the government here in Canada, the Liberal government, will respond. I think how we respond as Canadians, as a government, will be even more important to Canadians than the decisions that are made down there. So we're just hoping that our Prime Minister will have the wisdom to respond appropriately, to know if and when and how emphatically and directly to respond to some of the decisions that are being made by the Trump administration."

Falk adds while there have been a lot of rapid-fire decisions coming out of the White House, he is expecting things will settle down, based on the team that the President has put together.

"He's looking at individuals that have a wealth of experience. They're knowledgeable, they're well respected in their communities and they bring a tremendous amount of wisdom to the table. These are the kind of people that Mr. Trump has been surrounding himself with. I know he's a bit of a loose cannon with some of the decisions that he makes and the things that come out of his mouth, but the team that he has assembled around himself is just top notch. I'm actually expecting great things just based on the team that I see he has assembled."
