The Kleefeld and New Bothwell Fire Departments extinguished a gravel truck that was on fire just before 11 this morning.

At 10:40 crews were called one and a half miles north of Highway 52 on Road 26E northeast of Kleefeld.

"We had a gravel truck that had made contact with an overhead power line and caught fire and started a small fire," notes Hanover Fire Chief Paul Wiebe. "Our crews responded and took the appropriate steps to contain the fire and to deal with (Manitoba) Hydro on the live wires that were still on scene."

Wiebe says the driver of the truck was not injured and adds they were on scene for about 45 minutes.
