The Rural Municipality of Hanover will begin its street sweeping Saturday. Chief Administrative Officer Luc Lahaie says the schedule has been pushed back due to the snow this week and freezing temperatures overnight.

Lahaie says they will hit Grunthal and Kleefeld Saturday. But, because the contractor has other commitments in the early part of next week, Lahaie says Mitchell, Blumenort and New Bothwell will probably only see the street sweeper towards the end of the week.

Lahaie says Public Works staff will start the process by cleaning sand off boulevards or anything else that might be left over after the spring thaw. They will sweep this onto the streets. Lahaie asks residents to respect the work of Hanover employees and contractors.

"We kindly ask that they have their vehicles removed from the streets when the communities are being visited by these contractors," asks Lahaie. "It makes the cleanup a bit easier and much more efficient."

Lahaie says because of the many freeze/thaw cycles this winter, a lot of sand was used.
