Work is currently underway at the Bethesda Regional Health Care Centre to create a healing garden around the existing fountain.

Linda Peters is the Executive Director of the Bethesda Foundation. She notes the foundation thought it was time to update and refresh the small park near the Cancer Care Centre.

“We all know that emotional health is very important in the process of healing and physical health so for the benefit of the patients at the Bethesda Regional Health Care Centre, as well as patients who are undergoing treatments at Cancer Care we thought to have a beautiful outdoor space where they could rest and relax and heal would be very valuable to their physical healing.”

Peters says the Bethesda Foundation received two very generous donations specifically designated to a healing garden which helps make this project a reality.

“Often people in the community want to contribute to something related to healthcare and you can’t necessarily do it on your own or give the money to Southern Health so Bethesda Foundation is a conduit where people can donate money and then we can make those projects happen within the community.”

According to the Bethesda Foundation, the healing garden project is expected to be completed in late summer.
