A house was destroyed by fire Monday night in the RM of La Broquerie. Fire Chief Alain Nadeau says they got the alarm at 9:20 p.m.

"It was for a fully involved structure fire about 8.5 miles south of La Broquerie along PR 302. It looked like it was a bungalow, probably a 1,200 square foot bungalow."

Nadeau says the reason it was hard to tell is because the house was fully engulfed in flames by the time they arrived.

"We could see the flames leaving the fire hall eight miles away so it was totally involved. It had been going for awhile."

The house is a complete loss. Nadeau says the owner of the property indicated a renter living there but no one was home at the time of the fire. He adds the cause is so far undetermined and under investigation. Nadeau estimates the damage at upwards of $150,000.
