The La Broquerie lagoon tertiary project is currently on hold.

Reeve Lewis Weiss says they received communication from the Environmental Act Proposal informing them there could be human remains buried along the river on the property the municipality purchased east of the village for the lagoon wetland tertiary treatment project.

Plans for phase two of the wetland tertiary treatment project."So, we're not totally sure yet to what extent this will be a problem but we're trying to be proactive. We're contacting the grant department to see if we can have an extension on the grant in case this is postponed a little bit. We're talking with the departments of the government that are spearheading this inquiry, how quickly we can get through this."

Weiss notes council was surprised by this information.

"Apparently they information, what we had been doing, had already crossed all these desks in the past. So now we're kind of curious why now it raised red flags, and only after we purchased the property. We tried to do everything ahead of time so if there had been any issues, we would know."

He says they are trying to be positive and hope to come to a resolution soon. Weiss adds, worse case scenario, they will have to find a new location for the wetland tertiary treatment area.
