Freezing temperatures overnight have created icy and, in places, impassable conditions for yesterday's wet and slushy roads and highways.

Seine River School Division, Red River School Division along with local DSFM schools have cancelled classes due to road conditions.

Those travelling this morning are reporting treacherous conditions with ice build-up on Hwy 52 acting like a washboard. Traffic was backed up and moving at about 30 km/h at 7 A.M. It appears that north-south roads seem to be ok while east and westbound roads are extremely icy and with many ruts.

Manitoba Roads is reporting Hwy 1 from Ste Anne to Winnipeg as snow-packed and ice-covered.
