Not only did Peters and her fellow singers win in the academic, church music, and spiritual categories they participated in, but they also won the grand prize of the whole competition.

“We quite enjoyed the moment,” Peters laughs.

She indicates that choirs of varying ages from varying countries including Russia, China, Taiwan were present at the competition. “There were many different styles and categories,” she comments. Despite This diverse and skilled competition, the Winnipeg Singers came out on top; an accomplishment Peters is proud of.

During the school year, Peters is employed as a choir teacher at the SRSS, the summer months, however, are reserved for this kind of exotic singing. Now that Spain is behind her, Peters will continue practicing what she preaches to her students and will be touring the churches of Finland alongside the Winnipeg Singers.
