Two people have been transported to the hospital as a precaution after a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning.

Emergency crews, including the Steinbach Fire Department, were called shortly before 9:30 a.m. to the intersection of Highway 52 and Ash Street.

Steinbach RCMP Community Constable Dennis Redikop says Manitoba Infrastructure was out cleaning the highway in the eastbound lanes and traffic was slowed and down to one lane to accommodate highway's work. Redikop notes a grey car rear-ended a red pickup truck as a result of how much the speed of traffic had decreased.

He says the driver of the pickup truck was the lone occupant and both the driver and passenger of the car were transported to the hospital.

Traffic was detoured down Ash Street for about half-an-hour while the RCMP investigated the collision and crews cleared the scene.
