A large majority of municipalities in Manitoba say they will allow retail marijuana outlets when cannabis becomes legal later this year. The province has released the results of a survey after asking municipalities to state their intentions by last December 21.

97 municipalities say they will allow retail marijuana sales, 18 say they will not and 22 are undecided or need more information before making a decision.

Among the undecided are Steinbach, Hanover, La Broquerie, the Town of Ste. Anne and Springfield.

Municipalities in the southeast that have said yes to marijuana sales are Niverville, St. Pierre, the RM of Ste. Anne, De Salaberry, Tache, Piney, Reynolds, Ritchot and Emerson-Franklin.

Municipalities in the southeast that have said no to cannabis sales are Stuartburn and Beausejour.

The results are not binding on municipalities as they will be allowed to change their decision without any consequences.
