The St. Pierre RCMP satellite office in the Town of Niverville will be reopening on January 23rd.

Niverville Mayor Myron Dyck says the office will be open Monday through Friday from 1:15 p.m. To 5 p.m.

“Ever since the satellite office had the previous police secretary resign we have been searching a variety of options to see our office re-staffed. We knew that perhaps we didn't have enough work for a full time position, it involved training someone so that they meet the RCMP requirements. That individual was found and training began in December.”

Dyck says having a satellite office in Niverville will give on duty officers the ability to utilize the office space in Niverville which will help create a greater presence in the community. He notes it will also benefit Niverville residents directly. He says the satellite office will allow residents to do the paperwork for criminal record checks directly in the town of Niverville rather than having to drive to St. Pierre.

Dyck notes town council has been diligently working on the future of policing and security for Niverville and is excited to see the office reopened because it is a step in the right direction.

“The next big timeline for council is the eighth of February when we expect to have the census information for our community rolled out. Once Niverville council is aware of what their policing options are then much more due diligence will be done to gather the necessary information to be able to provide the general public with what the options are.”

Dyck says council can then have the discussion with residents about how the town wants to move forward.
