Niverville Town Council is updating their policies to make Hespeler Park more accessible in early spring and late fall.

Niverville Mayor Myron Dyck says residents are often eager to use the park when there are warm spells in early spring and the town is taking steps to make sure the facilities are available.

"There is sometimes pressure when you get warmer times to start sooner. We want to make sure we are not freezing the pipes cause once you open it you could have that issue so all we said is that when we have programs going on in the park we want to make sure facilities are available and if we need to, we will augment with portable washrooms to make sure there are facilities for people coming to the park."

Dyck says town council is also working on a plan that would allow the town to open the picnic shelter washrooms in Hespeler Park earlier in the season and keep them open longer.

Hespeler Park Picnic Shelter Washrooms"We are trying to extend the rec season so we said lets put some heaters in there. It is like a three season sun room in your home, if you can get an extra few weeks or a month out of that in your spring and fall season it just makes your park usable that much longer and that is what we want is for the residents to be able to enjoy it as long as possible."

Dyck says town council has also set the opening and closing date for their new splash park that was completed last summer. He notes the splash park will be open as early as May 15th and as late as September 15th weather permitting.
