The Town of Niverville will issue a boil water advisory on January 24th.

Mayor Myron Dyck says improvements to the water treatment plant and the installation work for them is triggering the boil water advisory. He notes town water will be shut off for part of the morning.

“We are going to be installing a new fire suppression pump and related plumbing in the water treatment plant as part of the water treatment plant upgrades project that began this summer. As a result, those properties hooked up to town water will be without water from the hours of 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.”

Dyck says according to provincial regulations a precautionary boil water advisory must be in place if town water is shut off.

“Provincial regulations state that anytime a public water system's pressure has the possibility to drop below 20 psi, this occasion warrants a boil water advisory. Because the entire system will be shut down, the town is required by law to put out a precautionary boil water advisory.”

Dyck notes the council would like to assure all residents that the water system is in no way compromised. He notes the town sent out a notice to all affected residents.
