Construction of Niverville’s first set of traffic lights is now underway.

The project at Main Street and 5th Avenue began early Wednesday to the fanfare of many in the town.

“It’s exciting,” says Mayor Myron Dyck. “The residents of Niverville are extremely pleased that construction has started and we have a great deal of gratitude to our MLA Minister Ron Schuler.”

Dyck’s gratitude is amplified with the knowledge that Minister Schuler is not only on the COVID-19 committee but also engaged in flood management strategies.

“This is not Town of Niverville dollars. This is provincial dollars,” expresses Dyck expounding on his thankfulness for the support from the province.

Early predictions have the installation completed by the end of summer as long as the parts and equipment can be obtained, and of course, weather permitting.

Regarding the importance of the infrastructure the Mayor was adamant, “this will bring a great deal of safety to our community.”
