Manitoba Infrastructure has wrapped up its work at the Highway 1 and Highway 12 overpass.

Larry Halayko is Executive Director of Construction and Maintenance. He says they did some slope stabilization in that area.

Halayko explains with the steeper slopes and the higher amounts of precipitation in recent years, there had been a bit of slope slippage. So, crews put in some material and drains to help get the moisture out and stabilize the interchange.

If you have driven through the area lately you may have noticed rock piles spaced evenly along the slope. Halayko says those are outlet points for water to exit the grade.

The cost of the project was about $300,000. Halayko says work started last summer and then last week crews wrapped up the trimming and seeding.
