Some Bell MTS customers from the Steinbach area have been receiving texts appearing to be from themselves. The text mentions an issue with last month's billing resulting in a refund.

(Texts like this have been popping up in Steinbach in recent days.)Morgan Shipley is Communications Manager with Bell MTS. Shipley says these texts are not from Bell MTS.

"Criminals posing as legitimate companies will send messages like these attempting to gain access to personal information such as passwords, bank account information and credit card numbers," notes Shipley.

The texts come with a link claiming to provide more information on the refund, but customers are urged never to click on the link or to reply to this text. It is best to delete the message.

Shipley says customers can always contact Bell MTS to confirm whether or not these messages are legitimate.
