Members of the Manitoba First Nations Police Service were able to diffuse an incident involving a firearm that led to a standoff on the Roseau River First Nation.

Police officers were called to a residence on Sunday afternoon where a suspect was pointing a firearm at a resident, which was being live-streamed over the internet.

After some time, police were able to convince the suspect to give himself up, at which point he was arrested and taken into custody.

There were three residents in the home at the time of the standoff, but no one was injured.

Police searched the home and seized an imitation firearm, a knife and an eight-ball in a sock.

26-year-old Dakota Alexander was remanded into custody and now faces 6 weapons charges.
