Steinbach RCMP caught two impaired drivers over the weekend.

Police received a report at 2:28 Saturday morning, that a vehicle was travelling in the wrong lanes on Highway #52 near Centre Street in Mitchell. Officers stopped the vehicle and tested the driver. He was found to have a blood-alcohol level above .08. A 19-year-old male from Mitchell was charged with impaired driving.

Then on Sunday at 2:14 a.m., police came across a vehicle near Mitchell that had been doing power turns on the road and then hit the ditch. The driver was found to have a blood-alcohol level that was one-and-a-half times the legal limit. A 22-year-old male from the RM of Hanover was charged with impaired driving.

RCMP also dealt with a domestic assault over the weekend. At 12:07 a.m. Sunday morning, they were called to a residence in the RM of Ste. Anne. As a result of their investigation, a 45-year-old woman was charged with assaulting her spouse.
