Manitoba Hydro representatives at RM of La Broquerie council meeting February 11, 2015.

Reeve of La Broquerie feels a lot of negativity from Manitoba Hydro's visit to council on Wednesday.

Lewis Weiss says he's trying to stay positive and believes there's still hope the preferred Manitoba-Minnesota Transmission line can be moved farther east.

"The extreme concern is the health and welfare of children.  We have two schools, playgrounds within half a mile of this massive line.  There is a lot of studies across the world about this size of a line and the concern, even up until I think 2000 metres, there's health concerns.  Right from leukemia to stunted growth.  And, of course, secondary to people's health would be land values and growth.  The farming community, no more spray planes in the area.  There are many concerns."

Weiss hopes residents don't make any decisions ahead of time based on financial compensation but come to the February 17th open house to voice their concerns and help Manitoba Hydro understand why they are against route 208.
