St. Pierre RCMP have released details about an unusual incident just before midnight Wednesday night.

An officer on patrol came across a pickup truck in the ditch at the intersection of Highway #75 and Provincial Road 210 at St. Adolphe. The driver had been ejected and was lying unconscious on the roadway. The officer administered CPR while waiting for an ambulance to arrive. Police say the 26 year-old male, from Ste. Agathe, was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. RCMP says as of Thursday evening he was in critical but stable condition.

Investigation shows the driver had attempted to turn eastbound onto PR 210 but was travelling too fast, lost control and rolled into the ditch. Investigators say he was not wearing a seatbelt and add it is not known whether alcohol was a factor.
