Trustees for the Seine River School Division have asked the administration to look at accessibility around their school playgrounds.

Ward two Trustee Jessie Cahill brought forward the issue saying the pea gravel currently surrounding the division's play structures is very inaccessible for students who require mobility aids.

"I think if anyone has tried to walk through this pea gravel can find, on the best days, that it's hard to walk through," Cahill adds.

She says all children attending their schools, regardless of their physical ability, should be able to go right up to the play structure at recess with their friends.

Cahill notes some of the potential solutions could be either wood chips or shock absorbent rubber mats.

The administration will review the matter and report back to the board at a later date.
