Hanover Fire Chief Paul Wiebe is commending the actions of a family in Grunthal early Friday morning after they were alerted to smoke in their home. Paul Wiebe says the Grunthal Fire Department got the alarm at 5:48 a.m. for 171 Park Street and gives kudos to the family who lives there.

"They did the right thing. They called 911 and evacuated the house. When our crews arrived they were able to check into it. They didn't find any fire. They just found it was coming from a faulty furnace fan."

Wiebe says they cleared the scene within an hour and the family was allowed back into their home.
