The Pansy road repaving project is $18,000 closer to becoming a reality after a spaghetti fundraiser on Saturday.

RM of Hanover councillor Dylan Barkman says the turnout was great with 250 adults plus many children at the fundraiser. He notes the road was originally paved in the early '90's and people have seen the value in having a good road leading in and out of the community.

Barkman adds he hears comments saying everyone should have their road paved. He says since this road was previously paved, it's simply maintaining something that already exists.

"Council has decided that we would like to repave the full six miles of Pansy Road. The project cost is just shy of $600,000 and they've taken that money form a couple various places. Part of that, $115,000, is to come from donations from people of the community. So it's like a public-private partnership."

Thanks to the spaghetti fundraiser and the organizers and volunteers, only $20,000 remains to be raised.
