The Steinbach Fire Department was called to two separate multiple vehicle collisions less than five minutes apart Tuesday evening.

The first collision occurred just south of Steinbach at the corner of Hanover Road and Highway 12 at around 5:30 p.m.

Assistant Fire Chief Russ Reimer says a pickup truck with an empty cattle trailer was stopped on Highway 12 in the northbound lane waiting to turn west onto Hanover Road when it was hit from behind by a second pickup truck. He says the first vehicle had only one occupant while the second truck had a driver and a passenger. He notes all three people signed refusals and were not taken to hospital.

Steinbach Assistant Deputy Fire Chief Mike Penner explains what happened.

“We had one vehicle traveling east toward the water tower on Main Street, another vehicle came out of Kroeker, didn't see because of snow banks and got t-boned.”

Penner says there was a driver and a passenger in the car that came to rest on the boulevard and just a driver in the second vehicle. He notes there were no injuries.
