Steinbach city council has decided to adopt the Steinbach Chamber of Commerce slogan 'More For You Here' to promote the city. Mayor Chris Goertzen says city council believes it makes more sense to use a shared slogan than to each have a separate promotional phrase.

"The chamber of commerce is doing good work and the slogan 'More For You Here' is very relevant for, not only for the chamber and businesses, but also for the city. Council was unanimous in saying, for the next three years, let's partner with them and let's use the same slogan, let's not overlap different types of slogans and different types of promotions. Working together with the chamber is a good idea."

Councillor Michael Zwaagstra made the motion to approve the three-year contract with the chamber.

"We feel that that slogan is a good representation of our city as a whole. It certainly is true in regards to businesses, that there are more business opportunities here. But it's also good in in terms of lifestyle in Steinbach, in terms of home opportunities, there's more for you here, for families, there's more for you here, recreation opportunities, churches, all of these are different areas where there is more for you here. Even in terms of community spirit, I think that we could agree that Steinbach is unique, there really is more for you here and so it's a slogan that we think will work well for the city and we look forward to seeing it used more extensively."

Mayor Goertzen doesn't see a downside in using a shared slogan.

"That (the joint-use arrangement) will be reviewed in three years to make sure that it's working the best for both parties and we'll make a call on it at that time."
