Agape House was presented with a cheque for $1435.60 after the Taste of Summer Charity Barbecue Wednesday afternoon.

Director of Agape House Tracy Whitby claims she is blown away by the support they received: “It’s amazing! We have the most generous community! To see all of these people come out and support Agape House was just so heartwarming.”

Whitby explains that Agape House is an organization that provides shelter and counseling for women and children who have experienced domestic violence.

Another facet of Agape House, notes Whitby, is educating the public on the issues within the community. She adds, the money raised by the Charity Barbecue will go towards new programs that will continue to increase this awareness. "We’re hoping to become a little more public and offer our services to everyday people, raising awareness on abuse solutions, and anger solutions as well as domestic violence.”

Ultimately, Whitby states, Agape House's final goal is to prevent the cycle of violence from continuing in thecommunity.
