Polls open for the 2018 Municipal Election at 8 A.M. this Wednesday and will close at 8 P.M.

Steinbach Senior Election Official Deb Rempel says you should expect to show your identification upon arriving at your voting place.

"A person may be required to provide an official government-issued document that contains the person's name, address, and a photograph or at least two other documents that provide proof of identity satisfactory to an election official."

Rempel says in a place like Steinbach where there are six council seats representing all residents, voters are allowed to vote for anywhere from 1 to 6 candidates, but ballots with more than six will be void.

Rempel says if you are in the building before 8 P.M. you are eligible to vote. She notes once all the voters have left the building the ballot boxes will be opened and the counting will begin.

Steinbach residents will go to the Pat Porter Active Living Centre to vote for municipal affairs and to the Hanover School Division Office to vote for school trustees.

Go to the 2018 Municipal Elections page to find out where you can vote.
