The toy coordinator for Steinbach community Christmas says the need for toys this year is great.

Joanne Dyck says they have most of their toy wrapping volunteers lined up and all they need now are toys to wrap.

"Right now we are needing about 1,200 toys, we are always looking for teen gifts, we also need in the area of 6-9 years and 1-2 years, but really because we are just getting started with the whole thing, the need is pretty much in every age category right now."

AM1250, MIX 96.7FM, and COUNTRY 107.7FM Toys Days will be on Wednesday, December 5 and Thursday, December 6th. Radio broadcasts and toy collection will be at Canadian Tire in Steinbach.

Dyck says it is amazing to see the community come together at Toys Days. She notes every year she hears heartwarming stories that inspire her to continue volunteering at Steinbach Community Christmas.

"When we have people that bring their toys either to the toy drive, and we are there and they can talk to us, or they come to Southeast Helping Hands, often they come with a story of how they received a hamper as a child or when they had a need and they were blessed and now they are there to give back and it is just awesome, it’s heartwarming and I love doing it."
