With early melting this winter, there may have been concerns about the conditions of the snow trail for the Southeast Snow Riders Club annual Vintage Club Show N' Shine and Ride held in Woodridge Manitoba. President of the club, Dave Boutang says the trail was well groomed and in great condition.

"We've groomed a trail through the bush, it's freshly groomed, the snow conditions are excellent. I don't think we have any bare patches and its not on ice because the machine that we groom with kind of chops up the ice a little bit, so it's a good hard trail."

Boutang notes all 74 of the machines entered are 25 years old or older and most of them well kept and restored.

"Our oldest snowmobile last year was a 1964 and then we had a 1959 Bombardier come out as well so we allowed them to tag behind."

Boutang says the trail is 10 feet wide so there was no need to worry about underbrush damaging your machine.

This was the seventh annual ride and the second year that they have raised funds for Cancer Care Manitoba. Boutang explains Cancer Care is important to him and really hits home with their group. This year, he says $950 was raised by donation.

"Cancer affects everybody. The money raised stays in Manitoba. We have a number of members from our club that have passed away, and we have some members right now fighting cancer so we thought it was a good organization."

Boutang says the day began with a show and shine at the Woodridge Community Centre, followed by their ride to an area out in the bush near Sandilands and ended with a wiener roast in the afternoon before riding back.
