A meteorologist with Environment Canada says this May long weekend is forecast to have typical rainy Manitoba weather.

Natalie Hasell says there is a Colorado low coming up and will centre itself towards Lake Superior. Hasell notes the system is expected to skirt along the Southeast, bringing periods of rain starting Saturday night and continuing through Sunday into Monday evening.

"Temperatures are going to be just below seasonal, highs of around 17ºC under these cloudy conditions, and Monday a little cooler, a high of 14ºC. So, we're not talking about large amounts of precipitation but we are talking about [rain] that is likely going to happen on and off."

Hasell says gardeners may want to assess the risk of planting this weekend as there are colder temperatures and possible frost expected for Tuesday night. She notes, though cloudy, with breaks between periods of rain, it may not be a particularly unpleasant weekend after all.
