The rural municipality of La Broquerie is taking spring cleaning to a whole new level.

La Broquerie is dedicating an entire week to cleaning up their community.

The community's “Team Up to Clean Up” is running from Monday, May 6th to Saturday, May 11th.

Leisure Services Programming Lead in the RM of La Broquerie, Ian Dickey, encourages people to sign up to clean.

“They can sign up with friends or family, a business can sign up to clean a mile of road or a stretch in their neighborhood.”

Residents can sign up for the area they would like to clean at the La Broquerie RONA, the Marchand Inn, or online at labroquerie.com.

Everyone who signs up to volunteer will be entered into their raffle where they have the chance to win prizes.

The RM is also hosting two community BBQs on Saturday, May 11th. They will have one in La Broquerie from 11am-1pm and one in Marchand from 4pm-6pm.

Dickey says everyone is getting involved in the cleanup, even children.

“Both schools in town are going to be going out and cleaning up on Tuesday next week, so we have a bunch of kids around town cleaning up as well.”

He notices people trying their best to keep the community clean even outside of Team Up to Clean Up.

“We will see people pick stuff up and clean garbage around town on street corners or along our paths. It's always awesome to see people take pride in their community and help clean it up year-round as well.”

Dickey is looking forward to seeing families come out, people reconnecting, and getting a real sense of community spirit.

“To see people get together with friends with family, getting outside, it's awesome. It's very encouraging to see people get together, clean the community, and connect.”
