Stefan Lavallee bounced back from two tough days in Morden with a couple of stellar rounds at Glendale and finished in a tie for 18th place at the 2020 Provincial Men’s Amateur Golf Championship.

The 22-year-old member of the Steinbach Fly-In golf club opened with a nine-over par 81 Thursday at Minnewasta and followed that with a six-over par 78 on Friday to make the cut by two shots.

Lavallee then went one-over par 73 on Saturday at Glendale and climbed up the leaderboard moving from 48th spot to a tie for 29th.

In windy and soggy conditions on Sunday Lavallee was two-over par 74 and finished with a 72-hole total of 306 which was 20 shots back of 2020 champion Marco Trstenjak of Elmhurst.

Adam Guenther of the Fly-In (76, 71, 82, 81) finished in a tie for 24th place at plus 22. Tyson Ehnes of Lorette (72, 76, 81, 82) was in 25th place at plus 23. Jamie Roy of Quarry Oaks (82,75, 82, 81) finished in a tie for 44th place at plus 32.

Colin Lafreniere of St. Pierre and Cole Peters of Quarry Oaks failed to make the cut.

Trstenjak, who will begin his third year with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas golf team this fall, finished three shots ahead of reigning Manitoba Junior Men’s champion Neel Soni of St. Charles.
