Every weekend several vehicles are left unlocked and valuables are going missing.

Ste. Anne Police Chief Marc Robichaud

Ste. Anne Police Chief Marc Robichaud says with the nicer weather, more people are spending time outside, and criminals are looking for items that are easily visible in unlocked vehicles. "We've had several vehicles gone through and things like change and easily accessible items are being stolen."

Robichaud says Police work very hard at being out there and being visible but they can't be everywhere at the same time, and criminals will take that opportunity to steal from you. "It's important to know we live in a safe community, but we still need to take steps to ensure the security of our own property. We want to stress the importance of locking up your vehicle and garage, we don't want to make opportunities where it's just too tempting for criminals to take things from us."

Robichaud says it seems to be a recurring problem, and he hopes residents will get into the habit of locking up.
