The Niverville Multiplex fundraising group is beginning to present proposals for donation and sponsorship towards the multiplex project.

Clare Braun is in charge of raising funds for the Niverville Multiplex. He says they have been careful to not move too quickly in this process because they do not want to miss any important aspects of the community. He notes there are a variety of categories they have people working in.

“We've developed the fundraising matrix which basically includes residential, we have the special events, we have corporate Niverville, we have non-Niverville corporate, we have agriculture, we have foundations, and then we have the provincial and federal governments.”

Braun says the residential and special events committee have already started creating awareness with a community breakfast and have put together a neat new tool for the summer.

“We were given a 16 foot community trailer that we had completely painted up and advertised and it is stocked with a barbecue and is stocked with tables and chairs. Any street in Niverville can request its use and have a block party, and that is going to be part of building awareness as well.”

Braun says the trailer was donated by Rainbow Trailers in Niverville. He says it may be a while until provincial and federal funding is in place because we have two new governments that are still working out how funds are allocated. He says they have just started initial conversations about possible corporate sponsorship.

“We have already been in touch with some significant people with regards to naming rights of the entire facility and some of the subcategories, so we have had some initial conversations. We have given ourselves until September or October of 2017, at which point we will take a step back and see where we are at.”

Braun says before they began this whole process they did a feasibility study and a community survey to make sure they were working in the right direction. He notes the two things that were overwhelming clear were that residents of Niverville want a new arena and an indoor playground that is open all year round, both of which are in the multiplex plans.
