A three-story, 36-unit apartment building is being built in St. Pierre at 353 Sabourin Street.

The apartment will be a mix of three-bedroom, two-bedroom, and one-bedroom suites, with most suites having two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It will also have an elevator.

A few years ago, the town installed infrastructure to expand their lagoon system, so now they can accommodate more people.

Owen Reimer, Managing Partner of Stoneshore Capital, says there is a lot of room for growth in St. Pierre, and they are excited to be a part of it.

Reimer adds that this is an infill development.

"The biggest thing for most of these communities is being able to develop the existing land, this is an infill property, meaning it exists already, we're just redeveloping."

He says this building will be helpful for St. Pierre in several ways.

One opportunity this building provides is housing for seniors who don’t want to live in a senior facility, but don’t want to live on their own and deal with maintenance.

“If they don't want to live in a single-family house anymore and take care of a yard, this gives them an option. It also helps with young families and young couples just starting out.”

It also can bring new people into town and improve their tax-base.

“We will be paying property taxes over time, and that is very important for a town to support all of their services, so hopefully it helps create some more growth in town.”

Reimer says the Village of St. Pierre has been very helpful throughout this process.

“They haven't created red tape. They've been very much supportive of doing a project, working within the bylaws and all the rules of development, they have not put up roadblocks,” he says. “They've helped us along and we look forward to working in the town of St. Pierre going forward.”

He estimates construction should be complete in the spring of 2025.
