Family gatherings are happening all over the southeast and Environment Canada says there will be no severe weather to worry about during your holiday driving.

Meteorologist Robyn Dyck gives the forecast for Christmas Day: “Looks like we might be seeing weather much like today: more clouds, light snow, but no significant accumulations.”

Dyck says the recent downfall of snow can be attributed to the moisture trapped underneath a surface ridge of high pressure. She expects similar weather patterns to continue through to Boxing Day.

Though weather and road conditions will be relatively safe, Dyck notes that there are always certain risks related to winter. “If we do happen to get a break in the cloud cover, temperatures do tend to drop, and when it drops, roads tend to get a bit slippery, so keep an eye out for that.”

Drivers across southeastern Manitoba are encouraged to be wary no matter how good the conditions appear.
