A business in the southeast seems to be in the right place at the right time.
Associated Proteins is finding the demand for Canadian canola oil is steadily increasing.  So it is thinking about doubling the capacity at its crushing plant in Ste. Agathe.  President Larry McNamara says they're doing a study right now to determine if the markets would support such an expansion.  The plan would be to increase capacity to crush 2,000 tonnes of seed a day.  Ffortunately for them the plant was designed to support an increase in capacity.
So if they decided to double in size it would only take them a year to get going rather than 2 to 3 years.  A decision on the expansion will be made in November.  The added capacity could mean another 15 jobs for the area.
