The city of Steinbach is finding a good use for all our leaves and grass clippings.
Sanitation department head Eldon Wallman says they created a compost pile last year and this summer was the first time they got to use it.  He says it did wonders for their flower beds in the city.  Wallman adds this compost pile is just the beginning in their efforts to reduce the waste going into the landfill and put it to better use.  The next step is to hold some information sessions to teach us how to develop a compost pile in our own backyards.
This composting initiative is another way the city is trying to become more environmentally friendly.
