2 southern Manitoba communities have been working together for 6 years on a portion of a nationwide project.
The community of Ridgeville and the Roseau River First Nation have created a trail that runs from Winnipeg to Emerson, mimicking the Old Red River Cart Trail.  The trail is called the Crow Wing Trail and is part of the Trans-Canada Trail running from Newfoundland to British Columbia.  Volunteer Blair Hamilton says the trail is meant for everything except motorized vehicle use.  Hamilton adds the grand opening of the trail will take place Saturday.  The day will begin in Ridgeville with a pancake breakfast and short tours of the trail.  At 3pm, entertainment will be going on at the Roseau River First Nation.  Hamilton says working with the First Nation was a great experience and unique to Manitoba.
