Together, they lived in Winnipeg for 1 year, and in October of 1969, they moved to Altona. Corneil got a job at Friesens as a printing press operator.

He also had a part time job for 20 years for the Altona Rural Water Co-op, fitting this in around his shift work at Friesens.
As a family, they enjoyed camping vacations, traveling across most of Canada. As empty nesters, they did numerous trips, including going to Israel in 2007.
In his retirement, Corneil found many ways to stay busy by volunteering, including a weekly shift at the Plum Coulee MCC warehouse, and being a community driver for various local medical agencies.
Corneil accepted Jesus as his personal Saviour at Winkler Bible Camp at the age of 13. He got baptized together with his wife at the Morrow Gospel Church in Winnipeg, on August 24th, 1969, just before moving to Altona.
