A man from Pansy is working with Friends of Ukraine Canada to raise support for war refugees that are coming to Manitoba.

Mel Kachur is closely following the war in Ukraine because he has family and friends who are living through the tragedy in that country.

“We are appalled by the devastation and slaughter of human lives. We have relatives in the Crimea region. We are in touch with them fairly daily. They say it's not a pretty picture and it's worsening in their region every day.“

Kachur says the Easter bread bake sale he’s planning for Saturday is only one of the many fundraising events they are holding in support of Ukraine and the refugees that are coming to our province.

We Ukrainians and other people in Canada are able to offer humanitarian and financial aid to people in Ukraine and to refugees that want to call Canada and Manitoba their temporary home.”

The bake sale will happen Saturday morning at Clearspring Centre in Steinbach.
