Residents of Steinbach many have noticed fire trucks once again on Hanover Street Thursday morning.

Crews were hard at work making sure the house that was damaged in a fire early Wednesday morning didn't reignite.

Firefighters were initially called to the house at 12:30 A.M. Wednesday when a detached garage caught fire and spread to the house.

Chief Kel Toews says they noticed some smouldering in the attic shortly before 7 A.M.

"We've got to do some work removing some ceiling and some roof and it is an older home with some sawdust shavings in the attic so they will, at times, smoulder for a while."

Firefighters were able to once again clear the scene around 9 A.M.

Toews says they will continue making regular stops at the house for the next 24 hours to make sure there aren't any more hot spots.
